Next coach trip..........

Saturday 17th February 2018

Walsingham Abbey Grounds & Bawdeswell Garden Centre.

We will leave St Andrew’s Church at 9.30am and travel to Bawdeswell Garden Centre. There is a coffee room and some small shops including Reeve’s Larder which stock a wide range of local foods, also a Millennium Garden to walk round, weather permitting.

We will leave the garden centre at 12.15 and travel to Walsingham Village, arriving about 12.40pm.  At the Abbey Grounds (privately owned) you can see "carpets of snowdrops mingled with aconites have naturalised throughout 18 acres of woodland and along the banks of the River Stiffkey which runs through the Abbey Grounds." There are only ruins left of the Abbey now, but you can see how impressive it would have been. There is the Shire Hall museum, it has an old court house which is quite interesting, you can sit in the various positions, Judge, Jury, Defendant.  Also a crypt below the present building, all in the grounds.

Entry to the Abbey Grounds is  £5 adult.  £2.50 child 6-16yrs. Free to HHA Members

Walsingham Village is very olde worlde with many small shops and a choice of Pubs and Restaurants.  Also there is the Shrine church which has a service every day at 2.30pm, with the option of sprinkling with holy water from the well which is inside the church. Within the Shrine grounds there is Norton’s Café Bar which serves light lunches, cakes and drinks. There is also the Parish Church of St Mary which is worth a visit.

We will leave at 3.40pm. to travel back to St Andrews arriving about 5pm.

The cost of the Coach is £11 adults.  £5 young person 5-17yrs, under 5’s free.

As there is no group discount if you want to go into the Abbey Grounds you can pay at the door, cash only.
