Graham Kendrick Concert

An Evening with Graham Kendrick

The beautiful church of St Andrew’s Gorleston was once again filled to capacity on the night of Thursday 17th May as 340 people from across the area gathered for an evening of live music and worship.

Christian singer-songwriter Graham Kendrick, often described as the father of modern church music, has been writing and recording songs for more than thirty years.  As the evening light streamed through the stained glass widows, Graham and his band, bass guitarist Simon Dennis and Terl Bryant on percussion, delighted the audience with classics such as Shine Jesus Shine & The Servant King, alongside songs from Graham’s newly released album Keep the Banner Flying High.

Picking up on the 10 day global wave of prayer, Thy Kingdom Come, the aisles resounded to a chorus of voices proclaiming the Lord’s Prayer, as Graham led the audience in the worship that accompanied his music. An active advocate for the charity Compassion, Graham also shared details of their work supporting over a million children in countries across the world

Following the highly successful Stuart Townend concert last year, this event proved once again what a great concert and community venue St Andrew’s has become, with its flexible seating, triple screen projection, and professional lighting.  Thanks to the many members of St Andrew’s who helped stage the event, the evening ran like a well-oiled machine.

Revd Brian Hall, Vicar of St Andrew’s, commented that it had been a fantastic evening. ‘There’s something very special when Christians from many churches gather together in such an enthusiastic and joyful mood.  I’m looking forward to St Andrew’s hosting similar events in the future,’ he added.

A further event is planned for January 26th 2019 when international singer and entertainer Jonathan Veira makes a welcome return to Gorleston with his new show featuring fresh arrangements for hymns old and new.  Tickets for this event will be available in the Autumn - see the church website for details:   www.standrewsgorleston.org.uk
