I'm new, what do I do?

New to Christianity / Church?

Want to know more about Christianity?

Check out the section on the Alpha Course which is a great introduction to Christianity, and provides an opportunity to explore and question the Christian faith in a non-threatening environment. Alternatively, contact the Church Office and they can arrange for a member of the ministry team to speak to you. Or, come and visit us, and introduce yourself, at one of our Sunday services.

What can I expect if I come to a service at St Andrew's?

Firstly check out the services section under Church Life and decide whether you would prefer a more formal or relaxed service. Then look at the calendar to confirm the time of the service you would like to attend.

When you arrive for the service there will be people inside the door welcoming you, and giving you a service sheet and weekly notice sheet. Please make yourself known as a "first timer" and ask any questions you may have including the all important "where are the toilets?"

Services tend to be led by one member of the ministry team with another giving a talk or sermon. Church members read the readings and lead the congregation in prayers.

During the service there will be lots of singing and you should feel free to stand and join in, or stand or sit and listen - whatever you are comfortable with. At St Andrew's we sing a wide range of music ranging from old hymns to modern worship songs.

All ages are more than welcome and we have a creche area at the back of Church to help parents keep their little ones amused.

During one of the hymns / songs there will be a collection. Please do not feel under any obligation to contribute, just pass the plate along.

After the service please join us for teas and coffees served in the Chapter House, adjoining the Church.
