St Andrews

Sunday Services

At St. Andrew’s we invest a lot of time into our Sunday Worship and teaching. We offer three very distinct services: 8:00am - BCP Holy Communion, 9:15am - Common Worship Morning Prayer and Communion, and 11:00am - Informal Worship and Communion. We believe this allows people to worship and learn in a variety of different ways. On the 5th Sunday in the month, and on special occasions, the congregations from the 9:15 and 11:00 services come together for a  service at 10:15am. Our services generally follow the same pattern but check the calendar for up to date details about services and times.

Midweek Services

At St. Andrew's we recognise that some people may not be able to attend Church on Sundays which is why we also have midweek Communion every Thursday at 10.30am, and 'Messy Church' for families once a month.

Service Guide
Traditional Services: These are at 8am each Sunday [Book of Common Prayer Communion] and 10.30am each Thursday [Common Worship Communion — traditional language].
Formal Services: These take place at 9.15am each Sunday, and are taken from Common Worship. The ministers leading the service are robed, and there is a robed Choir and a set order of service followed. The music tends to be well known hymns, both older and modern, accompanied by the organ. The Choir sometimes sing anthems or introits.
Informal services: These take place at 11am. Those leading the service are not robed, and no set order of service is used. There are modern worship songs led by a band, and occasional hymns on the organ. On the 1st Sunday of each month there is Café Church in the Chapter House, where refreshments are served before and during the service, and the approach is all-aged i.e. there is no separate provision for children, but material suitable for them included in what we do. These informal services often have a strong visual component, such as film clips, or other graphics. The words we use are provided on a screen using PowerPoint.
